Illustration picture shows the first day of a new circulation plan for the city center (Vijfhoek - Pentagone), in Brussels, Tuesday 16 August 2022. The latest changes were made on Tuesday morning and stewards will be in many places to steer motorists and other road users in the right direction. The intention of the new circulation scheme is to reduce transit traffic in the busy and populated areas of the city center and to give more space to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. The Brussels Pentagon must become a traffic-calmed zone. Less passing traffic and more space for vulnerable road users and public transport are the common thread. Traveling by car in the city center remains possible, but it is becoming more difficult to cross the city. BELGA PHOTO JAMES ARTHUR GEKIERE
